Road Trip #266 - Convention Center Boulevard - New Orleans, Louisiana

onvention Center Boulevard, formerly South Front Street, was the main corridor through the 1984 World's Fair site. After the Fair ended, buildings along Convention Center Blvd. were converted to become the Riverwalk Mall and New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Across the street are hotels which house conventioneers and tourists from out of town who go on Caribbean cruises out of the Port of New Orleans.

2018 Mississippi River Flood Watch - March 12, 2018, 6:00 pm

We return to Algiers point to see the progress of the rising Mississippi River. River level at the Carrollton gauge: 16.56 feet. 58 bays are now open at the Bonnet Carre spillway. The level of the river is still slowly rising, and is projected to reach flood stage (17 feet) tomorrow, March 13, around 12 noon.

Our second video in this series, as the Mississippi River nears flood stage at New Orleans.  As of 7:30 am, March 7, the river level at the Carrollton Gauge is at 14.75 feet, up from 13.71 feet on March 4.  Flood stage begins at 17 feet.

Road Trip #260 - Louisiana Highway 3127 North - US-90 to LA-3213

A drive along Louisiana Highway 3127, which runs in a mostly straight line, parallel to the Mississippi River, providing a faster route than LA-18, which follows every bend in the river. We pass through the communities of Boutte, Luling, Hahnville, Killona and Vacherie, traversing St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, and St. James Parishes.
